Sometimes I don’t feel like throwing down money for little accessories like sling-studs, or loop adapters. In fact, I couldn’t even decide which option I preferred so I decided to try and make my own sling before I bought a “tactical” one. I have a 2-point setup on a Thompson Center Venture. It’s a cheap, made in China leather knockoff, and will certainly NOT make it out into the field w/ me. It’s used for range testing. This sling, is made from a series of parts off of an of GAP messenger bag. The pack previously belonged to my sister, and after I found it hiding in the corner of a closet (after many many years on hiatus) I pulled it apart, shredded the parts I didn’t need and kept the ones I wanted to use. I have a series of male/female adapter buckles, slide loops, and nylon straps from .25″ to 1.5″. The strap I show in this video was the primary shoulder strap, about 200D maybe less, no tears. The original design I had in mind went around the entire chest/neck area, but after I cut the nylon too short that wouldn’t work. So I adapted it, and set it up (prototype), tied it pretty basically around a shoulder strap on a pack, and used it that way. The nylon on the female side that attaches to the pack shoulder is currently way too long, and once positioning is finalized I’ll sew it right into a pack/mole, or cut the nylon to fit easier.
